Ben Wingo
McKinney/Allen Area Director
Ben Wingo grew up in a family of four in Allen, Texas. His parents and most of his family are born again believers, and he grew up going to church. When he was seven, Ben felt God’s calling on his heart to admit that he needed a savior, Jesus Christ, during the invitation time of the pastor’s sermon. There, he surrendered his life to Jesus and was later baptized. Ben began growing in his faith and had a thirst for knowing God more.
However, life grew rocky in the first grade due to a difficult time with an abusive family member. Until late high school, Ben did not feel like home was a safe place. Despite the hurt caused by tough family relationships, Ben found joy and strength from his faith in Christ. God showed up in huge ways to support him through his parents, church, and friends. God used this time in Ben’s life to grow him in maturity and to highlight His faithfulness.
As he was growing in his faith, Ben felt something was missing until he skeptically went to a training on how to make disciples hosted at his church. There he found his life purpose and the missing part of his faith; God catalyzed Ben to become public about Jesus, and to join Him in his redemptive work. From then on, through the mentorship of his small group leader, friend, and pastor, he began to participate in the ministry of making disciples by sharing the gospel and teaching the Bible at school, in his local community, and at church.
During Ben’s senior year of high school, Collision Ministries heard about youth in Dallas, Texas who had a heart for reaching their community and got connected with Ben. With a similar outlook and process of ministry, Ben fell in love with Collision and joined the team in January 2024 after being coached by Collision throughout his senior year. He is excited to be able to reach young people in his hometown and surrounding area with the gospel and wants to share the greatest thing in the world with others—faith in Jesus Christ.
